Isiah Kiner-Falefa promoted to Rangers
It's a landmark for the Frisco Roughriders and the Texas Rangers. Here, in the 15th season of their partnership, the teams announce their 100th Roughrider to be called up to the Rangers.
When he debuts, he'll become the 141st former Riders player to make it to the Major Leagues and the 100th to debut with the Rangers.
Kiner-Falefa played all of 2016 and 2017 with the RoughRiders, the Rangers' Double-A affiliate, and was named a Texas League Midseason All-Star both seasons. The Honolulu, Hawaii native hit the first five home runs of his career in 2017, including one off Major League rehabber James Paxton. He was added to the Rangers 40-man roster this past offseason and began the 2018 campaign in Triple-A Round Rock before earning his call to the big leagues.
The RoughRiders round out the season's opening homestand tonight at 7:05 p.m. with the first Taco Tuesday of the year, featuring $2 tacos all game long and drink specials from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are available at RidersBaseball.com, by phone at (972) 731-9200 or at the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office.
